The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 require all employers to control any exposure to hazardous substances and protect anyone who may be exposed.  There are stringent control measures that must be applied.

 liquids, powders, gases, vapours, fumes, solids, dust or living organisms.  They may be corrosive, an irritant, carcinogenic, flammable, explosive, an allergen or reactive disease agents. 

 

Hazardous substances can find their way into the human body via inhalation, absorption through the skin, needles or ingested (swallowed).
