PAT TESTING

Part of Hazard Risk Assessments comprehensive service to

clients is electrical Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing).

This procedure can be completed in its own right, or in conjunction

with other risk assessments that may be required by your

organisation, and thereby achieve significant cost savings and minimise inconvenience.

The Law requires that all electrical appliances are regularly tested to ensure they are safe for use.  HRA test every electrical appliance in accordance with the IEE code, individually label, create a comprehensive register for each appliance within your organisation, and log when the next test is due.

All portable appliances, both 240v & 110v are given a thorough and detailed visual inspection and all electrical circuits are tested using the most up to date computerised diagnostic equipment.

The Health & Safety at Work Act states that all electrical appliances must be tested                    and inspected if:

· They are used by employees

· Where the public may use the equipment e.g. in hotels, schools, shops etc.

· Where the equipment is supplied or hired

· Whenever a piece of equipment is repaired or serviced

The definition of a Portable Appliance is where it weighs 18kg or less, or that it is intended to be moved during its operation, or can easily be moved from one place to another.

Arrangements can be made for out of hours testing  to minimise

inconveniencing your day to day operations.
