Why do you need legionella assessment?

Outbreaks of Legionnaires disease are well publicised and taken extremely seriously by the Health & Safety Executive and Local Authorities. The disease can prove fatal in certain susceptible groups of people. Outbreaks typically result in a 12% fatality rate.

Legionella L8 Assessments

The introduction of the L8 ACoP on the 8th January 2001 requires all persons responsible for any premises, other than private dwellings, with a water system to undertake a risk assessment of that system.

The person responsible for a property must keep records demonstrating that the system is maintained according to the L8 ACoP and to retain those logs for a minimum of 5 years. Risk Assessments must be reviewed every 2 years, whenever there is a significant change to the system or if there has been an outbreak of the disease.
